Back-to-School / Stay-in-School
The Back-to-School/Stay-in-School Program was created in response to alarming high school dropout rates. Understanding the correlation between education and life-long earnings and the need to maximize the
human potential. The program's goals are to increase the human potential. The program's goals are to increase the number of skilled and literate African American
youth graduating from high school by providing them with mentoring, tutoring, remedial assistance and incentives for maintaining regular attendance.
The program seeks to heighten public awareness of the dropout rate among African American youth; nurture positive attitudes
toward public education; increase self-development of African American youth; and broaden knowledge in the areas of educational, cultural awareness and community service.
Emphasis is placed on promoting self-development and raising the standard of excellence by having higher expectations for young
people and pushing them to seek educational excellence. The Back-to-School/Stay-in-School program is available to youth between the ages of 11 and 18. (learn more)
